This New York Times op-ed by University of Denver Law Professor César Cuauhtémoc García Hernández cites a nationwide survey that the Tahirih Justice Center and partner organizations conducted in 2017 to learn about immigrant survivors’ increased fear of seeking the help they need.

“In a nationwide survey conducted in April by the nonprofit Tahirih Justice Center, four out of 10 social service providers working with immigrant survivors of abuse said they had clients who had abandoned legal claims because of fear of what will happen if they call the police or go to court,” said García Hernández.
