Letter Urging the Department of Homeland Security to Protect Survivors of Violence

On International Women’s Day, Tahirih and over 560 national, state, and local organizations submitted a letter to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to express concern that the Administration’s executive orders on immigration and the subsequent DHS implementation memos undermine public safety by reducing the likelihood that immigrant victims and witnesses will report crimes; contravening existing protections afforded by law to immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and trafficking; empowering traffickers and abusers; and creating unprecedented fear for immigrant families and communities.
