Layli’s Book Club Guide: “Do They Hear You When You Cry”

June 13, 1996 is the anniversary of Fauziya Kassindja’s groundbreaking asylum victory, which set precedent for women and girls to seek asylum in the United States on the grounds of gender-based persecution.

To honor her legacy this summer, we’re hoping people around the world will gather their friends, start a book club, and commit to reading Fauziya’s memoir, “Do They Hear When You Cry,” which she co-wrote with our CEO and Founder Layli Miller-Muro. Instead of membership fees, ask each member of your book club to make a donation to Tahirih Justice Center.

All donations will benefit our Building Bridges to Safety Campaign, a fundraiser to pave the way for Tahirih to continue it’s life changing work and our holistic model of service, which includes free legal and social services, bridge-building policy advocacy, and research based training and education.
