Saphira Rameshfar currently serves as Assistant Secretary/ Deputy Secretary-General for the National Spiritual Assembly of the Baha’is of the United States, the national governing body of the Baha’i Community in the country.
Saphira is an executive leadership coach and certified mediator, and works with the New York Peace Institute and centers for conflict resolution on organizational conflict consulting and restorative justice. Her portfolio also includes consulting work on social impact and a values-based approach to business and development.
Previously, Saphira served for 10 years as United Nations Representative for the Baha’i International Community at the UN Headquarters in New York City, leading engagement on gender equality, climate justice and global governance. Collaborating closely with international civil society and the NGO community at the United Nations, she served on the Executive Committee of the NGO Committee on the Status of Women to the United Nations, as Chair of the Working Group on Girls to the UN, convener of the Faith and Feminism Working Group to the UN, has collaborated closely with UN agencies including Women, UNFPA, UNDP, UNDESA, UNICEF, UNDGC and the Secretary General’s Envoy on Youth.
She has worked for the Australian Federal Government and holds a Masters in International Law from the Australian National University, and an Executive MBA from the University of Oxford.
