Matching Gifts and Corporate Giving

Many employers offer a match for employee charitable contributions. Also, your employer may have a corporate giving program through which you can advocate for Tahirih. Search below to find out if your employer has a matching gift program that can double your impact for the immigrant survivors we serve. Thank you for checking!

Donor Advised Funds (DAFs)

If you have a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), please consider Tahirih as you make your grants this year. It’s quick and easy to use the funds in your DAF account to support Tahirih’s work.

Appreciated Assets

You can make a gift of appreciated securities (publicly traded stocks, bonds, and mutual fund shares) as well as other assets (such as real estate, art, or personal property) to Tahirih. This donation will support our work while also allowing you to reduce or avoid capital gains taxes on those securities and receive a federal income tax charitable donation deduction. The larger your gift, the larger the potential for a deduction.

Wills and Trusts

Create a legacy and ensure the long-term sustainability of Tahirih’s work for years to come by naming the Tahirih Justice Center as a beneficiary of your will or trust. It may also help reduce your estate taxes.

Did you know?

We want to let you know about a few key provisions of the new CARES (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) Act. This new law is designed to help individuals, businesses, and nonprofits facing economic hardship during the coronavirus pandemic.

The new law temporarily suspends the required minimum distributions (RMD) for the 2020 tax year. This probably comes as a relief to many of you who would have had to withdraw a greater percentage of your retirement accounts. If you are 70½ or older, you can still make a gift from your IRA or name us as a beneficiary. In addition, there are some new ways you can receive financial benefits and help organizations like us.

The new law allows all taxpayers to take a charitable deduction of up to $300, even if you do not itemize. You might think that this is a small amount and would not make a difference. But what if all of our donors gave just $300? Such support would have a huge impact on the immigrant survivors we serve.

For those who do itemize their deductions, the new law allows for cash contributions to qualified charities like Tahirih to be deducted up to 100% of your adjusted gross income for the 2020 calendar year.
