Olga Sanchez, a former Tahirih Justice Center client and current member of Tahirih’s Board of Directors, shared her powerful story in this letter to the editor in the Washington Post and explained how the current administration’s immigration policies would have affected her as a survivor of violence.

“Had this administration’s policies been in place, I, a battered and defenseless mother, would have been prioritized for deportation to a country where I had already been the victim of violence and almost certainly would have been again were I sent back,” said Sanchez.

“Nobody in the United States should be afraid to dial 911 when he or she is in danger. “
