In Houston, communities continue to face eviction, despite a federal moratorium halting the practice. Houston Public Media spoke to Guadalupe Fernández, Tahirih Houston Policy and Advocacy Manager, on barriers that vulnerable communities encounter during the pandemic-fueled housing crisis.

Houston Public Media quotes Guadalupe Fernández, who says:

“It’s clear these systems were not designed for folks that are the most vulnerable,” Fernández said. “When you’re doing an application system online, are you ensuring that (it) has mobile capabilities because you understand that your community, the marginalized community, may have a cell phone and that’s how they are going to apply?”
