A leading international law firm in Tahirih’s pro bono network received a prestigious design award this month for a marketing brochure it created to help Tahirih convey our mission to protect immigrant women and girls.

Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP won the MarCom Gold Award in the Pro Bono Category. Its marketing team designed a dynamic, four-page brochure to help inform new and prospective supporters of Tahirih’s work to protect courageous immigrant women and girls in courts, communities and Congress.

MarCom Awards recognize outstanding creative achievement by marketing and communication professionals. There were more than 6,500 entries from throughout the United States, Canada and several other countries in the 2013 competition. Akin Gump also took home a platinum award for one of its own publications.

“Akin Gump is proud to partner with Tahirih Justice Center to help women and girls seeking protection from gender-based violence. Our pro bono partnership includes financial, legal and administrative, so that we can use all of our firm’s assets to support Tahirih,” said Akin Gump Partner Steve Schulman.

Akin Gump is a long-time partner in Tahirh’s robust network of pro bono attorneys and law firms. In 2012, these essential partners helped Tahirih leverage a record breaking $10.1 million in donated professional services.

“Words alone cannot express the importance of the partnerships we have forged with Akin Gump and professionals around the country who are compassionate enough to donate their time and resources in the fight to end violence against women,” said Tahirh’s Executive Director and Founder Layli Miller-Muro.

“Tahirih gives hearty congrats to the Akin Gump marketing team, led by Aleisha Gravit and Sara Sidransky, on this well-deserved recognition,” Miller-Muro said.
