Tahirih’s growth through 2017 was guided by a three-phase strategic plan beginning in 2009 called the Ready to Soar Campaign. First, we prepared for expansion by researching best practices and proven methods for scaling; then, we piloted, tested, and perfected our model of service by opening our first two field offices in Houston and Baltimore; finally, we launched a full national expansion with the goals of increasing by 250% the number of women and girls served, doubling the advocacy of our national policy team, doubling our education and training capacity, and opening two more field offices in the San Francisco Bay Area and Atlanta. This was all accomplished because when we asked for your help to raise $10 million for this campaign, YOU – our champions – answered the call. Please download our Ready to Soar case statement to learn more about the campaign.

I came to the U.S. in the winter of 2006. Life back home in Mexico was tough for me and my family. I dreamt of going to college and graduating but with my family’s economic status, that dream was too costly and impossible.
At least I was able to graduate high school and that is something I am proud of since I was also working at the time to help my family. I was always looking for an opportunity to have a better life as a young woman.June 23, 2023 -
