Julie M. Carpenter joined Tahirih in 2017. As Litigation Attorney, Julie helps identify those areas of immigration law where impact litigation raising civil rights and immigration claims common to many of our clients is appropriate, and then to implement that litigation. Tahirih’s policy team plans to challenge new immigration rules and actions that threaten to undermine the protections afforded under current law to immigrant survivors of violence. Prior to Tahirih, Julie was a partner and litigator at Jenner & Block in Washington DC for nearly 28 years where she was a member of the First Amendment and the Government Contracts Practice Groups. She also served as the Chair of the Pro Bono Committee. She supervised and litigated a dozen human trafficking cases as well as constitutional challenges on a wide variety of issues.
