They arrived with bags of toys and books, and they spent all morning painting, sorting stuffed animals, and decorating a room. Their work didn’t stop there. Over the next six weeks, they routinely returned to the room, each time brought more gits&38212;toyds, shelves, floor pillows, stuffed animals, and a gorgeous, handmade “I Spy” quilt sewn by members of the club’s quilting group.

The Exxon Mobil Spouses Club has created a children’s room at Tahirih Justice Center’s new Greater DC Office. The room is a bright, warm, and happy space for children to wait as their mothers consult with Tahirih staff. It even has a blackboard wall, where children sketch colorful drawings with chalk.

Tahirih sends a warm “thank you” to the Exxon Mobil Spouses Club for its hard work, generosity, and commitment to Tahirih’s clients and their children.

We would also like to thank the many generous individuals who helped with the move to Tahirih’s new office in Falls Church, Va., including:

  • Maye Aghazadeh
  • Roya Karimian
  • Evan Loudenback
  • Shahin Sadeghzadeh Milani
