  • Tahirih Complaint to DHS Regarding Due Process Violations

    The Tahirih Justice Center filed this complaint to the Department of Homeland Security’s Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties regarding violations of due process by U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP). The complaint urges DHS to investigate unlawful coercive conduct by CBP toward asylum seekers and take action accordingly to prevent further violations of due process.

  • Amicus Brief Filed in Eastern District of California Court Case

    The Tahirih Justice Center and partner organizations filed an amicus brief to the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California in the case challenging several California state laws on the grounds that they conflict with federal laws.

    This brief supports the California laws by explaining how they enhance survivor safety and public safety. Rather than conflicting with federal law, they are in harmony with the federal laws that provide particular immigration protections for survivors of domestic violence and other crime. The law firm of WilmerHale led the drafting.
