Helping Those Released from Family Detention: Asylum Options for Immigrant Survivors of Domestic and Sexual Violence

This three-part webinar series is for attorneys, accredited representatives, domestic and sexual violence advocates, mental health service providers, and social workers already familiar with VAWA and U visas to help women and children released from family detention centers. Specifically, it is designed to expand your knowledge and capacity to help survivors fleeing domestic and sexual violence in their home countries apply for asylum. We encourage teams of lawyers and non-legal advocates to participate together. This webinar series is proudly presented by ASISTA, the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies, and Tahirih Justice Center.

What You’ll Learn in Part Three

This webinar, primarily for attorneys and accredited representatives, will address complex legal issues in asylum law, including one-year deadline issues, framing “particular social groups,” and preparing successful litigation strategies.
