Tahirih Justice Center’s Forced Marriage Initiative will present a Forced Marriage 101 presentation to the Alexandria, VA Domestic Violence Program. The training will focus on best practices for identifying and protecting individuals at risk, screening, service provision, and basic privacy protection and relocation strategies.
At age 17, Aicha was forced into a marriage filled with rape and abuse. She escaped her home country and traveled to the U.S. on a quest for safety, but only found more violence.
For years, Linda suffered severe abuse at the hands of her boyfriend, forcing her to flee to the U.S. to find safety for her children and herself.
