Since its inception, the Tahirih Justice Center has been an organization fueled by an outpouring of support from concerned individuals throughout the world. These individuals have provided spiritual, financial, material and other support to Tahirih, and have formed the broad foundation of volunteers on which Tahirih has been built. Volunteers have been critical at every level--from basic administrative duties, to fundraising, to providing technical and professional services, to charting Tahirih's strategy for service. We welcome you to serve and to participate in Tahirih activities in the ways outlined below. Moreover, many of our programs have been grown from our volunteers' ideas and initiatives--if you can think of other ways to help, please let us know!

DONATE THROUGH EBAY
There is a new way to give to the Tahirih Justice Center! Tahirih has registered with Ebay and MissionFish to become a certified non-profit that can receive donations though everyday transactions on Ebay! This new program allows Ebay merchants to designate between 10-100% of the sale of an item to the Tahirih Justice Center. GivingWorks, Ebay’s program dedicated to charity and non-profit listings, reports that items listed through GivingWorks receive more bids, sell more quickly, and sell at higher prices than regular Ebay listings. Some sellers report a 20-40% increase in sales price when they sell through GivingWorks!
Both buyers and sellers on Ebay can work to contribute to Tahirih.
For Merchants: Donating part of the proceeds from your sale is quick and easy. Simply list an item on Ebay as you would normally do. In the “Pictures & Details” category you will be given the option to donate a percentage of your sale and select the Tahirih Justice Center as your preferred non-profit. The first time you do this, you will be asked to complete a quick registration with MissionFish. MissionFish allows you to donate 10%-100% of your sale to Tahirih. Your listing will stand out with an icon that donates proceeds of the sale will go to a non-profit. Additionally, your listing will appear in the category you select, on Ebay’s GivingWorks, and on the non-profit’s MissionFish page; it’s like getting 3 category listings for the price of one! For Buyers: Go to the GivingWorks homepage, http://www.ebay.com/givingworks , and search the non-profit listings for Tahirih’s profile. From there, you can view the items currently up for bid whose merchants have chosen to donate to Tahirih. If you are a frequent buyer from a particular merchant, encourage them to register with MissionFish and designate Tahirih to receive portions of their sale.
ASSISTING CENTER CLIENTS
Often, clients of the Tahirih Justice Center struggle even with basic tasks like getting their groceries, finding transportation to doctor's appointments, and locating assistance with the challenges that face them as new residents of the United States. Tahirih volunteers have played a helpful role in assisting clients with these basic tasks, and serving as points of reference for the client until she is better able to navigate the obstacles presented by her new environment.
