PBS Frontline examines child marriage in America in the first episode of its new investigative podcast, The Frontline Dispatch. The Tahirih Justice Center’s Senior Counsel for Policy and Strategy, Jeanne Smoot, shared Tahirih’s insights on child marriage in the U.S. with Frontline reporter Anjali Tsui for this episode.

“[Child marriage] can happen simply because of a sense of what girls and women should do and should be in life and those kinds of limitations on gender roles and norms going forward,” Smoot told Frontline.
