Development Intern – Spring Semester

Position Summary: The development intern will be provided an opportunity to learn about fundraising, event planning and donor relationship management serving the Greater DC Office. Successful candidate will support Tahirih’s fundraising efforts to fulfill our mission of supporting immigrant women and children refusing to be victims of violence.


Primary responsibilities include:

  • Donor communications and follow-up for the 20th Anniversary Fundraising Gala
  • PR and media; including getting events in social calendars
  • Assisting with preparing sponsorship letters and other communications; including emails and mailings
  • Post gala follow-up and acknowledgements
  • Assisting in planning and coordination of various events
  • Completing other administrative tasks as needed


The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in an accredited undergraduate academic program
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Basic knowledge of constituent management software or case management software (preferred but not necessary)
  • Detail-oriented, with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation
  • Energy and enthusiasm
