Tahirih is seeking a Development Manager to work primarily with the Greater Washington, DC local director to achieve annual income and constituent relationship goals, helping to sustain and grow the organization’s local supporter base and budget of nearly $1.5 million. He or she is also charged with the planning and execution of Tahirih’s high-profile annual fundraising gala, including sponsorship solicitation, venue selection, event logistics, budget monitoring, and vendor management. Forced Marriage Initiative Project Associate (National/Greater DC Office)
Tahirih is seeking a Forced Marriage Initiative Project Associate. The associate will work directly with service providers nationwide seeking guidance and technical assistance on forced marriage cases, as well as service seekers facing or fleeing forced marriages, providing them with support and connecting them with resources. He or she will also work closely with the FMI Project Manager to develop national resources, grow our national coalition, conduct outreach and education, and improve public understanding and response to forced marriage in the United States. Bilingual Children’s Legal Advocate (Houston Office)
Tahirih is seeking a Children’s Legal Advocate for its Houston office. This Advocate will be hired as a 3-year, full-time employee. S/he will work closely with the Children’s Staff Attorney to assist unaccompanied children seeking lifesaving protections under US law. Tahirih is seeking a Social Services Associate to help women and girls fleeing gender-based violence seek justice under the law. The Social Services Associate reports to the Social Services Program Director and is located in the Houston office. The ideal candidate will have experience working with female victims of violence from multi-cultural backgrounds, speak fluent Spanish, exemplify a professional demeanor, be detail-oriented, self-motivated, and a team player. Public Policy Attorney (National/Greater DC Office)
Tahirih is seeking a Public Policy Attorney to contribute to Tahirih’s efforts to secure stronger protections and supports for immigrant survivors of gender-based violence, including under U.S. asylum laws, the Violence Against Women Act, and the Trafficking Victims Protection Act. The Public Policy Attorney will be responsible for elevating Tahirih’s national advocacy initiatives, forging and mobilizing diverse coalitions, and engaging bipartisan allies to press for laws, regulations, policies, and precedent that better protect immigrant women and girls from violence. Volunteer Attorney (Baltimore Office)
Tahirih is seeking a volunteer attorney to serve in its Baltimore office. Tahirih does not provide compensation or any benefits for this position. The attorney will conduct intake interviews with prospective clients and assist in providing representation in immigration matters for existing clients. Applicants with immigration law experience and fluency in Spanish are strongly preferred. Candidates must be willing to make a minimum 6-month commitment, although both full-time and part-time applicants are encouraged to apply.
